A little help to get going.
Quick answers for setup, Screen Time permissions, NFC and QR tags, Pro purchases, accounts, and unexpected blocking.

Setup & blocking
TezBlock requires iOS 18 or later and Apple’s Screen Time permission to shield apps and websites.
How do I set up my first profile?
- Allow Screen Time access when TezBlock asks.
- Create a profile and select the apps, categories, and websites you want to block.
- Choose a blocking strategy, then hold the start button to begin.
Manual blocking works without an account or physical tag. See Tips & Best Practices for more setup ideas.
My selected apps are not being blocked
- Confirm that TezBlock still has Screen Time permission.
- Open the profile and confirm the intended apps or categories are selected.
- End the session, fully reopen TezBlock, and start it again.
- Restart the iPhone if iOS still does not apply the shields.
If the problem continues, contact us with your iOS version, iPhone model, and the name of the strategy you selected.
Apps are still blocked, but no session is active
Open TezBlock → Settings → Reset Blocking State. This clears leftover restrictions and ghost schedules when TezBlock shows no active session.
If an active NFC, QR, timer, or Strict Mode session is visible, finish it using the stop method selected for that profile instead.
How do I stop a session?
The stop method depends on the profile’s strategy. Manual sessions use the in-app hold-to-stop control. Timers end automatically. Physical profiles may require the assigned NFC tag or QR code, particularly when Strict Mode or physical unlock is enabled.
NFC & QR codes
Physical blocking works best when the tag or code is intentionally placed away from your usual scrolling spot.
My iPhone will not scan an NFC tag
- Use an iPhone with NFC capability and make sure the phone is unlocked.
- Hold the top edge of the iPhone close to the tag for one or two seconds.
- Move the tag away from metal surfaces and thick or magnetic cases.
- Try another NTAG213-compatible tag to rule out a damaged tag.
TezBlock cannot write to my NFC tag
The tag must support NDEF writing and must not be permanently locked or read-only. Hold the phone steady near the tag until the iOS NFC sheet confirms completion. If writing still fails, try a fresh NTAG213 tag away from metal.
The QR scanner cannot see my code
Make sure camera access is enabled for TezBlock in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera. Use an evenly lit, high-contrast code, clean the camera lens, and move the phone slightly farther away so the entire code fits inside the scanner.
Can I use more than one tag or QR code?
Yes. A profile can have multiple physical unlock items, including NFC tags and QR codes. This is useful when you want a valid tag at your desk, bedside, and another intentional location.
Pro & purchases
TezBlock Pro is a $9.99 one-time App Store purchase. Apple processes the payment; TezBlock never receives your full card number or Apple Account password.
I paid for Pro, but it is not showing
- Confirm the App Store is signed in with the Apple Account that made the purchase.
- Check your internet connection.
- Open the TezBlock Pro screen and choose restore purchases.
- Close and reopen TezBlock after the restore finishes.
Is TezBlock Pro a subscription?
No. TezBlock Pro is a one-time $9.99 purchase with lifetime access, so there is nothing to cancel and no renewal charge.
I previously paid for monthly or annual Pro. Do I keep access?
Yes. Previous paying TezBlock subscribers keep permanent Pro access. Open the TezBlock Pro screen and choose restore purchases if your access is not showing. A free-trial-only transaction does not qualify for permanent legacy access.
Where do I request a refund?
Because Apple processes the purchase, refund requests are handled through Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and select the TezBlock purchase.
Can I support TezBlock without buying Pro?
Yes. Open TezBlock → Settings → Support and tap Donate. It is a one-time $1.99 tip and does not unlock Pro features.
Account & privacy
An account is optional and is used only for Friends and synced focus-session history.
Do I need an account?
No. Core blocking and local tracking work without signing in. Sign in only if you want Friends and synced focus-session history.
How do I delete my account?
Open TezBlock → Settings → Delete Account and follow the confirmation steps. This permanently removes your account, synced sessions, and friend data from TezBlock’s servers.
How do I unsubscribe from website emails?
Use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any TezBlock newsletter. Newsletter addresses are separate from TezBlock app accounts. See the Privacy Policy for details.
